Product Details
Description:
Type 1 diabetes is caused by selective T-cell-mediated destruction of pancreatic beta cells. GAD antibodies (GADA) are more common in Type 1 diabetic subjects diagnosed at an older age, whereas insulinoma-antigen 2 antibodies (IA-2A) are more common in subjects with younger onset. Islet autoantibodies are the main markers of pancreatic autoimmunity in Type 1 diabetes (T1D). Islet autoantibodies recognize insulin (IAA), glutamic acid decarboxylase (GADA), protein phosphatase-like IA-2 (IA-2A), and ZnT8 (ZnT8A), all antigens that are found on secretory granules within pancreatic beta cells.
